You can create a dashboard to monitor an object's completion rate (for example, a program's completion rate). Thanks to this functionality, you no longer have to waste time on weekly or monthly data export and processing outside of HCM Deck. Let's get started.

Step 2: Add a report showing the overall program completion rate
Step 3: Add a report showing the total number of unique participants
Step 4: Customize the arrangement of reports on the dashboard
Step 5: Add reports that compare data between locations and positions
Step 6: Check which employees have not yet completed the program
Step 7: Share the dashboard with others
Step 8: Filter data when viewing a report
Step 1: Create a dashboard
Begin, by creating a dedicated dashboard where you will track completion data related to one specific onboarding program (but you can select a different object, e.g., a path)
How to do it
- Go Manage employees > Analytics > Dashboard.
- Click "Create dashboard" in the middle of the page. If you already have any dashboards on the list, click the plus symbol next to the “Dashboard” title.
- Click on the name to change it. We recommend using simple, short names, e.g., "⚡️ Onboarding 2023 ⚡️". Long, complicated names will make navigation difficult later.
- Add a description that will make it easy to reference the dashboard in the future. Especially if you share it with others. For example, "Onborading 2023 program completion rate analysis, broken down by stores and positions."
That’s it, let’s add a first report.
Step 2: Add a report showing the overall level of object completion rate
First, we will add a report that shows the overall completion rate of the program, along with the number of users in 3 statuses (these statuses are available for programs: "not started", "uncompleted", "completed").
How to do it
- Click “Add report”.
- Choose Development > Object completion.
- Click on the title to change it. We recommend a simple and short name, such as "Completion rate (all participants)".
- Select the object whose data you want to monitor.
- (Optional step) In the filters, you can select “Long absence” = “No” and “Archived users” = “No” to ignore these users. Of course, you can also use other filters depending on your needs.
- Click "Add report".
That's it, now we'll move on to creating more reports.
Step 3: Add a report showing the total number of unique participants
We already know the overall completion rate and how many users have particular statuses. But it's still worth displaying the total number of unique users with an assignment to the program.
How to do it
- Click "Add report".
- Choose Development > Object participation.
- Click on the title to change it. Again, the simpler, the better, e.g., “Number of unique participants”.
- Select the same object.
- (Optional step) Use the same filters as for the previous report.
- Change "Bart chart” to “Pie chart”
- Click "Add report".
That's all, now let's see how you can arrange reports on the dashboard.
Step 4: Customize the arrangement of reports on the dashboard
To save space and have even faster access to data, you can put up to 3 reports in one row. This way the most important numbers are at the top. To move a report, just grab it and drop it in the desired place, e.g., next to another report.
Step 5: Add reports that compare data between locations and positions
You also want to be able to compare data on program completion progress between different groups to spot the top performers and find out who needs support in encouraging employees to learn. In our example, we'll be comparing data between locations and positions.
How to do it
- Click "Add report".
- Choose Development > Object completion.
- Click on the title to change it. First, we will group the data by location, so you can name the report “Completion rate by location”.
- Select the same object.
- (Optional step) Use the same filters as for the previous report.
- When selecting the grouping field, pick the one that you use on the platform to distinguish the employee's location. In our case, this is the “Store code” custom field, but on your platform you are probably using something else such as “region”, “location”, “branch”.
- Click "Add report".
Then add another report using the instructions above. In step 3, change the name to "Completion rate by position", and in step 6, select the "Position" field. This is a standard field, so it will be named the same on your platform.
Step 6: Check which employees have not yet completed the object
If you want to see employees who, for example, have not completed or started the program, hover over the appropriate place on the report and click it. Then on the right side you will see a panel with the names of employees.
Step 7: Share the dashboard with others
Share the dashboard with local HR coordinators or managers so that they can check the level of program completion in their teams on an ongoing basis. You don't have to worry about permissions or creating roles, because you can simply select groups and/or users that you want to share the dashboard with. Users you share the dashboard with will be able to view it, but can’t edit it.
How to do it
1. Click "Share" in the upper right corner.
2. Add the groups/users you want to share the dashboard with.
3. Copy the link to the dashboard and share it with the selected users, because currently they will not get a notification about the new shared dashboard.
Dashboard sharing and user data privacy
When you share the dashboard with someone who does not have permission to see certain users, the user preview panel will show blurry data for those users, but their numerical data will remain intact.
Step 8: Filter data when viewing a report
Data in dashboards can be filtered not only at the editing level, but also at the preview level. For example, when you are discussing the results of a team with their manager, you can use filtering to quickly see only the results that apply to them. You set filters in the preview only for yourself, i.e., other people who have the dashboard shared with them won’t see them.
How to do it
To filter the report, just click the funnel icon in the upper right corner of the report and select the values you are interested in. Only grouped reports can be filtered.
That's it, now you can check the completion progress of the program or path on an ongoing basis. If you want to learn more about specific dashboard features, see this article.
