Paths allow you to gather educational materials that are added to the system into one big element that guides users through their learning process (that's why it's called a path - every element is a part of the way that the user has to go through to complete the training). The elements can be dependent from each other - one won't be unlocked until the other is finished, you can also add time limitations. Thanks to gathering elements together, users have a clear understanding of what they have to complete, to gain required knowledge from certain topic.
Even if we add a new element to a path sometime after creating it, people who have already finished it, won't have to go back unless we set such requirement.
Directory is a gathering of objects similar to a path - only it's not mandatory for people to finish. Directory allows you to assign grouped elements to users and they can but don't have to finish it.
Path and directories can include:
- e-learning courses,
- traditional trainings,
Program is a bigger unit - it gathers paths into one element that can be presented to users in a fun, colorful way that encourages them to check it out - it's shown right on the main page, so they see it the second they log into the system.
The most common example of program usage is for an onboarding process that connects paths about different topics, so that a new employee has access to whole knowledge meant for them. It's possible to modify how you present this program to users, so you can create something that is clear and encouraging.
