Definition of paths and directories
Paths and directories are similar to each other. They both gather singular elements and allow sharing them with users as a whole.
Both paths and directories allow you to automate access to content, you can assign them to whole groups of users.
Paths are mandatory to complete and directories are optional, employees don’t have to complete what’s inside.
Paths are presented as a whole, employees can see which elements are inside and in what order they should be completed.
Employees do not see directories, but in designated places in their menu they can see optional courses, trainings etc.
Path properties
To create a path, go to Development paths > Programs and paths. Click Add and then Add a path.
Start with general data. Name your path, choose categories and add a description visible to users.
Then you can turn on and edit notifications connected to the path. You can use default notifications or create your own.
Employees can earn points for completing a path. They can later spend these points on access to trainings.
A path can have time restrictions. It can be available from and to a certain date and time.
Like any other element on the platform, a path also can be cyclical, users can download certificates after they complete the path and administrators can store additional data about it.
You can also decide what will happen when you add a new element to a path that has already been completed by an employee. Their status can remain the same or it can change back to “to be completed”.
The last step is adding the path to a folder.
At the end click Add and you can further configure your path.
Elements of a path
Every type of content on the platform can be a part of a path.
To put an element in a path, go to the Elements tab and click Add.
You will be redirected to a list of all elements on the platform. Here you can find everything that can be a part of a path.
Search for elements you want to put in the path, check them and click Next.
In the second step you need to confirm that these are indeed elements that you want to put in the path. Check them once again and click Next.
The third step is about properties of added elements. First, you need to decide if the element should be included in the progress, which means that employees will have to complete this element to complete the whole path.
Next things to decide on are the start conditions. You can set them the way that employees need to complete some elements first and this element will unlock only after they do that. Move elements from left to right to set that.
Next are time limitations. The element can unlock and lock at some specific time. It can be a specific date and time or some amount of time from assignment.
At the bottom you can turn notifications on and off. Then click Add.
If you want to go back to these settings, click the number next to the element on the list.
Directory properties
All you need to create a directory is a name. It won’t be visible to users, so it can be an internal name.
Besides a name, you can choose categories and add a description, but they also won’t be visible to users, only to administrators.
At the end you can add the directory to a folder and that’s it, just click Add at the bottom.
