The new view shows employees the one thing to do right now and their whole onboarding plan in one place. It runs on the onboarding program you have already set up.
What the new view offers
Benefits for employees
- They know what to do now: one step, one button.
- They see the whole plan without feeling overwhelmed: stages are collapsed.
- They understand why something is locked, e.g. “Available in 3 days”.
- They stay in the onboarding: content opens on top of the view.
- They see which tasks they do themselves and which are done by someone else.
- They see the surveys they need to complete during onboarding as regular onboarding steps.
Benefits for administrators
- Nothing to build from scratch: the view uses your existing programs and paths.
- Fewer “what should I do now?” questions from new hires.
What the view looks like
The screen has three parts, from the top:
- Program card: name, due date, description and progress of the whole program.
- Your current step: the one thing to do now, with a button.
- Your journey: all stages and steps of the program.
How the current step is selected
The view goes through the stages in the order of paths and elements set in the program and picks the first step that:
- counts towards progress and belongs to the employee,
- is available now (not locked, not before its release date, not past its mandatory deadline),
- is not completed or submitted for approval,
- is not a training session with a date already selected.
Optional stages are skipped. The view searches the whole program, so if the current stage is waiting for something, the card shows a ready step from the next stage. If there is no step to do, the card explains why, e.g. “Waiting for approval”. Surveys in the program are always treated as required.
How to give employees access to the view
Enable the view for selected users in the configuration:
[platform address]/protected/home#/onboarding/config-new-view.
When such an employee opens the program from a link, a notification or a tile on the home page, the new view opens.
Want to enable the new view for everyone? Contact your platform account manager and we will turn it on for all users.
The new view works only for programs marked as onboarding programs: open the program properties and mark it as an onboarding program. These programs can also be filtered in the results list, and managers and other roles (e.g. HR Business Partner, buddy) can see their people's onboarding status in the Team Onboarding view (instructions).
