Unfortunately, publishers of course creation software aren't concerned about the course subsequent versions being compatible with previous ones. Therefore, when you add a new version of the course some time after adding the course to the platform, it doesn't open for users. Unfortunately, HCM Deck doesn’t have control over this and if such a situation occurs, you should contact the course producer. We’ve created a workaround to remedy this, but it should be used with caution.
Workaround for course version incompatibility
To be able to add an incompatible version of the course, you can clear the course progress data for users. To do it, click the "Clear progress in course lesson" button located in the "Course content" section in the course edit view. To use it, you must first unpublish the course.
Unfortunately, using this solution results means that:
- Users who are currently in progress of completing the course will lose their progress and will have to start from the beginning.
- Users who have completed the course and enter the course after clearing their progress will have their previous score deleted. Unless in the lesson options, the setting "Save best results only" is turned on.
- It can also cause other problems that we cannot predict, because they depend on the specific settings of the given course producer.
Therefore, we recommend that you use this workaround only in exceptional cases, and we cannot take responsibility for any problems that may arise from its use.
